There is no starting point to my love for music. As long as I can remember, it simply was, like the air we breathe. Its constant presence was solace, anchor, and a compass throughout childhood.

 

While I was mostly surrounded by classical music growing up in Germany, my passion for contemporary genres would lead me to Los Angeles, where I spent over 15 years composing for film and video games. Immersed in Hollywood’s vibrant bustle of stylistic eclecticism, I eventually felt the need for restraint and simplicity to find a more personal, authentic voice.

This search gave birth to Tom Cosmo, a project blending the restraint of minimalism with my love for jazz and electronic experimentation, sprinkle in some hints of anime music. In Tom Cosmo, I take a step back, allowing minimal piano music to become a meditative space for rediscovering creative essence. It is both a continuation of my artistic evolution and a pursuit of authenticity, combining the traditions and innovations that define my journey.

Tom Cosmo’s releases serve as musical snapshots documenting this ongoing, open-ended search. My hope is that sharing this musical travelogue will help others find a similar meditative, reflective space. If so, this project will not have gone in vain.
